Tubby Emu Let me begin by saying that this Paperview over all was actually one of the better paperviews of the year. Daniel bryan winning the Briefcase in Smackdown’s MITB was already a big enough shock for me. That was until the final match of the night between Superman John Cena and the straight edge savior CM Punk. The match build up to the paper view was hands down some of the best writing, WWE Creative has done all year. CM Punk had cut the greatest promo we have seen in years only to have it wrecked hours later, so I was a bit skeptical on how this feud would end.
Fast forward to the Paper View, when CM Punk entered the arena the crowd absolutely erupted. Even though he was in his home town of Chicago, Illionois, the crowd was bar none the best crowd in recent years. The reaction that CM Punk garnered was absolutely deserved and played very much into the match. I remember watching the PPV and watching a live chat about the event, and people were saying to expect one of the biggest “boo’ing’s” of the year. They were exactly right and CM Punk was met with such hostility I actually felt bad for Mr. Superman.
The match was a back and forth contest and easily has garnered the title of best PPV match of the year. For over 35 minutes these superstars went back and forth with CM Punk surviving through 2 AA’s and 3 STF’s. He was an absolute warrior and made this the match of the year. Near the end of the match after CM Punk hit a GTS that connected with Cena’s ribs he fell out of the ring. CM Punk was obviously distraught realizing he would have to get him back in the ring. While CM Punk was in the process of getting Cena back into the ring, Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis slowly made their way down to the ring exchanging glares.
CM Punk finally made the jump back into the ring and John Cena out of no where puts CM Punk in the STF. At this point I honestly though, god damn you WWE how could you blow this PPV. That was until Vince instructed John to run to the announce table and end the match, Cena broke the STF and went out of the ring and popped him in the face. He starred Vince down and said not like this, I can do this. He went back into the ring only to be met with a GTS from Punk and he got Pinned 1-2-3.
You could tell the look in CM Punk’s eyes was sincere and I felt completely overjoyed at the time. Most people that I was conversing with at the time were just waiting for Alberto Del Rio to make his way down to the ring to cash in his MITB. Vince ordered him down and as soon as he got in the ring, Punk kicked him in the face. CM Punk took the title starred at Vince and ran over and at on the railing. He blew Vince a Kiss and ran off with the Title in what I deem the best possible ending for the PPV. Overall this PPV garnered a 8/10 from me and was thoroughly enjoyable. Tubby Emu After what was an entertaining match and a completely unexpected finish to the Smackdown MITB, the WWE disappointed. The weeks leading up to WWE Money in the Bank all speculation was that Del Rio would end up winning the match. Even myself thought last week that the WWE would choose the Predictable path and give the MITB to Del Rio. It seems as if the WWE can only be super creative about half the time. The match itself was slow paced and just seemed to lack the “wow” factor that a Money in the Bank Match Should have.
The highlight of the MITB match for me, was easily when Evan Bourne hit an Air Bourne from the outside of the ring from 15 feet about the floor via a Steel Ladder. When it came to the rest of the match it was just uninspiring for me. What did you think when Alberto Del Rio unlatched the Briefcase? Leave your feedback in the comments below!

Tubby Emu FINALLY! WWE Creative has done something amazing and unpredictable and honestly has shocked me. I Know that the MITB is usually reserved to build up younger superstars so it makes complete sense.. However, I also know the WWE’s writing this year has been absolutely horrid. I give kudo’s to Daniel Bryan and hopefully he can become very successful and not be a wash out like other past MITB Champions (*cough* Swagger)
What do you think about the WWE Doing something creative and not predictable leave your feedback in the comments below!

Tubby Emu In News that was announced today, Electronic Arts has squired PopCap Games. The deal is worth up to a maximum of $1.3 billion dollars if certain performance standards are met through 2013. PopCap games has quite a holding in Social and mobile gaming with titles such as Plants vs. Zombies, Bejeweled and Zuma. While the price may seem quite steep, EA thinks it was completely worth it.
While EA has a stronghold on gaming when it comes to consoles it’s own digital sales have been lagging behind. With the aquistion of PopCap, EA CEO John Riccitiello stated the purchase will “accelerate [EA's] drive towards a $1 billion digital business.” What I wouldn’t do to have $650 million dollars in my pocket is a mystery. Will EA be able to capitalize on this purchase and become a dominate force in the digital download business?

Tubby Emu I often look forward to gaming conferences such as Pax East and E3 to get the latest and greatest when it comes to video game related news. There is nothing more exciting when you witness and exhilarating trailer that get’s you pumped for a game. Which is exactly what The Cartel and Ubisoft managed to accomplish for me at PAX East. When I saw the first trailer for Call of Juarez: The Cartel, it was immediately a game I knew I was planning on getting. A Badass take no prisoner game set in real time related to the war on drugs and violence, while telling the story from various law enforcement agencies.
After the initial trailer was released, I ventured off the next day and visited my local GameStop. I had initially wanted to pre-order the game, however they weren’t aware of a release date and no pre-order bonuses had been announced at the time. As I usually do, I decided to wait until hopefully some sort of swag was announced for The Cartel. I don’t only buy games that come with something extra, but it’s always nice.
After stalling for months on my pre order actual gameplay footage and other trailers had surfaced on Youtube and other media outlets. For a game that I onced deemed possibly the greatest release of the summer, was to soon follow with extreme disappointment. While I have yet to play the game, what I’ve seen so far has been quite a letdown. It seems like a muddled up clone of Grand Theft Auto that other games try to portray. I cannot say for certain that I still won’t get the game but only time will tell. Call of Juarez: The Cartel drops on July 19th, 2011 on all platforms.
Do you plan on Buying Call of Juarez: The Cartel? Leave your comments below.

Tubby Emu Is there anything more entertaining to watch in the heat of the moment than college football? In a day and age where pro players are more concerned about endorsement deals and making the big bucks, in college they play for the love of the game. (most of the time) NCAA Football is a game that has become a staple in the gaming industry. While the game itself usually goes constant changes in features and accessories the actual game play seems to stay the same from year to year.
For the first time in a long time, I can actually say I have noticed some major improvements in game play. Every year EA releases a features list for the game giving an explanation as to what to expect. Most years people gawk at the list as it never actually improves game play, just adds to other non essential game features.
While watching trailers and other promo videos for NCAA 12 I must admit I did have a little laugh. The Main features that I had heard about were “3D Grass,” HDR Lighting and improved tackling. (players are not suctioned in) As far as HDR Lighting it’s a tad too early to tell as I was only able to play 2 games in the Demo.
While I was skeptical about “3D Grass” it actually quite suprised me and looked pretty good. However, the grass isn’t 3d while playing the game only in Replays and highlights some what disappointing. The biggest improvement to the game this year, bar none, is the tackling system. While only playing 2 games so far, I could actually feel the intensity of a hit via my controller. While running I did not feel like I was suctioning into a defender and was quite impressed. An overall review will be available when the game is available on July 12th, 2011.
I think I can finally say we have a semi decent football game in our midst. However, in addition to the online pass the user will have to pay for 2 new features. More details to come soon!

Tubby Emu Since YouTube’s inception in 2005, the popular video-sharing website has undergone numerous changes every year.
Today, YouTube rolled out it’s new and sleek “Cosmic Panda” design. (To try the new layout go here: Cosmic Panda Layout) In total I have used the new layout for around three hours today and I am somewhat impressed. The main objective of the layout is to provide a much easier viewing experience when it comes to videos and playlists.
If you are using Google’s Chrome, you can continue to view a video even while searching others, a great addition. With that being said you can also scroll through the comments and view other videos/playlists while still being able to watch the video. Unlike before when you had to scroll down and hide the video in order to view other suggested videos and comments, the video player is now fixed and immovable. Also, the options to change the video size are conveniently located on the bottom right of the video and no longer requires the video to pause in order to change.
However, being a YouTube partner there are a few things that concern me. My main concerns revolve around the fact that it seems partners have lost clickable banners. A feature that I have thoroughly enjoyed and have allowed me to streamline and showcase important links. From what I have seen it now seems as if everyone will be on a level playing field. I’m not sure what added benefits partners will have with the newer and sleeker design. It also seems that channel pages will no longer have an auto-play option as to view videos you must click on the specific video.
Overall, I think it’s a tad early to clearly judge the full layout until we have a chance to test all the available features. Have you had a chance to try out the new layout? If you have leave a comment with your thoughts and or reactions in the comment sections.

Leo B. Let’s hypothesise a situation here. You’re pretty good at video games, have a likeable and distinct personality, and this new-fangled YouTube ‘commentating’ business has really piqued your interest recently. You see regulars such as SeaNanners and xJawz and the immeasurable popularity they have gained by just… playing video games. Then afterwards, they talk over said video games and either review their own gameplay, or discuss other semi-relevant topics instead. How hard can that be? You don’t KNOW anyone in the scene per se, but that shouldn’t be too much a problem… right?
As a result, you manage to get your hands on a screen capture device and whatever else necessary for the job, and you’re ready to go. A few videos uploaded and nothing has happened. Still, everything is new and maybe things just haven’t clicked yet… you hope.
What you may not have realised is the scene that was so positive and fresh, has hit a real logjam. For lack of a better phrase, there are far too many young kids out there trying to get noticed just so they can be like their idols. So many of them aren’t engaging, are flat, and downright boring. Truthfully it’s a waste of time that they even bother.
Now, this wouldn’t bother me if it wasn’t so damn obvious and frequent. I may, granted, be looking in the wrong places for new material, but everywhere I go are these little channels that have maybe 20 or 30 videos with dreadful commentary, mediocre gameplay and even worse promotion. Some have simply realised that they’re not cut out for it and given up early, and some continue, and strive, blissfully unaware that things aren’t going to work any time soon. Unfortunately, as long as the scene thrives, there are going to be little Jimmys getting HD PVRs for their birthday and thinking that awesome 28-17 gameplay he got in Free-for-all one day (he didn’t win) is going to be something thousands of people want to watch. Not gonna happen.
One of the main reasons the kingpins of the community have is simple – they got in early. Guys like BlameTruth, WingsofRedemption, Tejb, and the aforementioned SeaNanners have been doing this for over 3 years. They know the scene inside and out and I’ll be damned if that doesn’t separate them from your average 400 subscriber channel. Not only that, but they had a head start in subscribers, obviously. On rare occasions there are guys who have been grinding at it for a long time but not seen sufficient results, and I have nothing but respect for them. You do see recent characters pop up and do moderately well but there are very few who can compete with the popularity of those solid veterans, and you can challenge me on that. You can be the most entertaining, charismatic guy on the planet but 300,000 subscribers won’t appear on your channel overnight.
Doubtless the top dogs will continue to flourish, as they will always have a firm fan base to fall back on. Unless they find themselves in a controversy with a magnitude like the recent JX23 debacle, things will be as prosperous as ever, financially, and in turn, with views.
My one message to the next little Jimmy looking to be a YouTube star – Don’t even bother. I believe FPS Kyle (one of the biggest success stories in the community) said just that. You’re better off just enjoying the guys who know what they’re doing, instead of longing to carve your own niche in a place that has people piling at the door like Black Friday at the Mall of America. Just trust me on this one, you’ll thank me later.
